A Simple Guide to help parents select the right dance studio for their child…
What is your first impression? Were you and your child met with enthusiasm?
We understand that enrolling for the first time in dance is an exciting event for the dancers and parents.
Dance Productions is always ready to meet with you and assist you in anyway we can! Each location is filled with excitement; a family atmosphere is the best way to describe our studio! Receptionists are ready to help you when you enter the building! Open communication from the studio to the parents is essential in providing a positive atmosphere. Monthly newsletters, website and emails are provided for our students. Student Handbooks are very informative for the yearly calendar and contain a great deal of studio information. Bright and colorful waiting rooms for the parents and homework areas are also provided for the dancers and their siblings!
Is the dance studio equipped with proper equipment?
Each dancer deserves to dance on proper injury prevention floors. Children should never be permitted to participate in dance class on “concrete” floors. Rooms should be equipped with mirrors and barres. If tumbling classes are included in the program, be sure to ask about the type of mats and equipment that your child will be using. Dance Productions takes the greatest care in providing a studio facility that is state of the art. Only the best will do for our students! Each studio is equipped with raised floating floors, multi level ballet barres, professional sound systems, and safety mirrors! Instructors also have many teaching aids that assist them in the class -balls, hoops, rhythm sticks, and parachutes just to name a few. We also have dry erase boards to help the students with proper spelling of dance terms and to give them other needed information!
How about the teaching staff?
What are the credentials of the teaching staff? How much experience do they have? Were they warm and attentive to your child? Dance Productions has an outstanding professional staff. Each instructor has been trained to teach the “Dance Productions Method,” our own unique style of teaching. Students receive excellent dance education while at the same time offer classes that are exciting and Fun. We provide TLC for each student as we pride ourselves in providing individual attention for each dancer! Dance Productions provides a standard of excellence that combines over 30 years teaching experience.
Are you able to observe your child?
Parents with younger children love to watch and observe class. Dance Productions offers observation windows to allow parents to take an occasional peek and join in the fun!!!
Can your child advance in dance?
We suggest that parents always ask about the entire dance program from beginner thru advanced levels. Notice the experienced dancers in the studio. Are they advancing with their dance education? Do the instructors have the ability to be creative, patient and supportive with the younger students as well as the training to provide the advanced student the dance education they will need for the next level of dance? Dance Productions offers 2 types of programs for our dancers - Recreational and Competitive. Children begin with the recreational program where the instructors begin building a love of dance. This is a very important dance program that will give our students only the best! Classes will be designed to be exciting, creative and challenging; they will stimulate the dancers both mentally and physically. These students usually come one to two times per week and perform at our exciting recital where they are featured to present their many accomplishments! After a few years of training, students may audition to become members of our nationally recognized competitive program. The Dance Productions staff provides only the best in dance education each week - not just choreography but excellent training is provided at each lesson. Each class is designed to be productive and organized. No Wasted Time…at Dance Productions! Careful thought and consideration is given to class and rehearsal times. Students have the opportunity to dance under the instruction of not only outstanding teachers but some of the top choreographers in the country each week! Our students are introduced to guest choreographers to help them learn and grow from other dancers, but our own DP Staff nurtures them to success throughout the year. Careful emphasis is placed on proper warm up and stretching. Students are provided with a well-rounded program with ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical or hip-hop! You will notice the poise and grace of our students immediately. They will not only gain dance technique and performance opportunities but self-confidence, pride and time management skills are important life lessons that are gained! Students and parents many times make life long friends at the dance studio…
Is the studio a place where you want your child to spend time?
Many times students spend a great deal of time at the studio. Always make sure your child’s instructor is providing a healthy environment for your child. The most important thing parents should consider is “Who is my child spending time with?".
We feel the most impressive and important aspect of our studio is our valued students and staff! Remember its about what goes on inside the studio that counts…just like a book you read…its about the inside not the outside!
